Our School Program & Approach

We use a project-based, interdisciplinary curriculum that connects literacy instruction, culturally-relevant topics and community partnerships.


PS 270 features:

  • Small Group Instruction in literacy and math to target students' needs using research-based programs

  • Field Trips & School Visits with partner organizations and institutions including Pratt Institute, Artshack Brooklyn, and City Growers/Brooklyn Grange

  • Emphasis on Social Emotional Learning through morning meetings and Responsive Classroom's Fly Five Curriculum

  • Strong Commitment to Arts & Outdoor Education through classes, curriculum connections, and partner organizations like NYC Outward Bound

  • Community-oriented Events to bring families and staff together, like monthly community meetings and outdoor gatherings

  • After School Programming that includes SEL and arts classes
